The present study examines the interplay between general health among athletes participating in various sports at differing levels of competition. The objective is to analyze how these variables manifest across players of various sports, focusing on interuniversity versus intercollege competition levels. General health is posited as a foundational determinant influencing physical performance in athletes and is critical in shaping athletes' responses to competitive environments. The study sample consists of 600 athletes selected through purposive sampling from both interuniversity and intercollege competitions (300 each). Employing a quantitative research design, the study utilizes the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28, Goldberg, 2000) adhering to the latest standardized norms. The GHQ is analyzed in the study across its sub-dimensions: somatic symptoms, anxiety, social dysfunction, and depression. Descriptive statistics for the sample are presented, alongside group differences between interuniversity and intercollege sportspersons are analyzed using independent sample t-test. The significant findings are discussed in the context of existing empirical evidence, offering insights into the health attributes of athletic success through psychological lens. This research provides valuable implications for training methodologies, and psychological support interventions tailored for sportspersons across various levels of competition.
