Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to identify the social and cultural factors affecting the acquisition of English as a second language among students of the College of Physical Education. Many methods are used in scientific research, where the appropriate method is chosen for each study based on the nature of the problem that the research seeks to solve. The research community means the community of the phenomenon that the researcher is studying. The researcher intentionally identified the research community, which is the students of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, and then chose the research sample randomly. The main sample consisted of three samples according to the requirements of the study to be the exploratory sample (8) students, a sample to build the scale (88) male and female students, and a sample to apply the scale (114) male and female students distributed among some universities that were chosen randomly (Baghdad, Babylon, Al-Turath, Al-Nusour). The researcher followed the simple random method in choosing the sample. One of the most important results reached by the researcher is that: Family and community support is the most influential and positive factor in acquiring English it plays a major role in enhancing motivation and providing the necessary resources to learn the language, and students who have the support of their families and community achieve better performance in learning the language. One of the most important recommendations recommended by the researchers is that: Strengthening the role of the family and community in supporting English language learning through awareness campaigns and community initiatives, and designing university programs that reduce the impact of community challenges and provide rich and supportive learning environments. Providing practical interactive opportunities for students, such as language clubs and exchange programs with international institutions.
