This study seeks to examine the mental toughness attributes of netball players across various playing positions. A total of 200 female netball players from Kerala, aged between 18 and 25 years, were randomly selected. Among them, 100 played offensive positions, while the remaining 100 played defensive positions. The Mental Toughness Questionnaire, developed by Dr. Alan Goldberg in 2004, was used to assess mental toughness, focusing on five core aspects: rebound ability, pressure handling ability, confidence, concentration, and motivation. The data were analysed using an independent t-test in SPSS to identify significant differences between the two groups. The level of significance was set at 0.05. The findings reveal a significant difference in confidence and pressure-handling ability between offensive and defensive players. Offensive players display greater confidence than defensive players, whereas defensive players excel in handling pressure more effectively than offensive players However, there is no significant difference in rebound ability, concentration, and motivation across different playing positions. These insights highlight the importance of recognizing position-specific mental attributes, which can aid in refining training programs and enhancing overall team performance.
