Abstract:

Conduct problem refers to the behavioural problem. It's when a child has rebellious behaviour and may disregard basic social values and guidelines. Anxious children display poorer memory than less anxious children and it is believed that anxiety creates distracting stimulation that bounces attention from relevant incoming information and therefore impairs intellectual abilities. Physical activity program can be effective in treating anxiety of children with other problem. The drive of this study was to see the effects of intervention on anxiety in adolescent with conduct problem. The sample consisted of fifteen (15) boys students aged between 11 and 14 years, screened with conduct problem through Strength and Difficulty Questionnaire (SDQ), which was adapted and standardised in Hindi version and adapted Hindi version of State-Trait Anxiety for Children (STAIC) was used to measure state anxiety and trait anxiety. The sample participated in three physical activity modules, which are Yoga, Recreational Activities and Gymnastics. ANOVA and dependent samples t-test were used. Data was collected before and after 12 weeks. The result was significant between pre-test and post-test in anxiety and conduct problem. Thus, the null hypothesis has been rejected. The F-ratio of physical activities was reported significantly higher. The conclusions were drawn that physical activity encompasses many activities which engaged adolescents’ behaviour pattern, with positive thinking abilities and treating anxiety. A planned structured set of programs, active participation would definitely benefit the adolescents over the time.
