Abstract:

Academic pressure among the students are incressing day by day to maintain the parity with the global scenario. Along with the academic pressure parents are pressing hard for their establishment. Students are not participating in physical activity and are suffering from different types of physical and psychological problems.

The purpose of the study was to find out the status of the motor fitness level and to find out the difference between classes in respect of selected motor fitness components and psychological variables.

Total 416 yoga students from the schools of Hooghly district of West Bengal were selected randomly. To measure motor fitness, AAHPHERD Youth Fitness Test was applied. Anxity, stress, depression and regression was measured through a standardised questionaire (8SQ). collected data was converted into numerical form and were statisticaly treated for interpetation and discussion.

The result indicated that the subjects were maintaing their motor fitness level. The performance of the selected motor fitness variables (Pull up, sit up, shuttle run, standing broad jump, 50 mt run and 600mt run) were better in the senior classes in comparison to the junior class except in shuttle run. Significant difference was observed in case of pull up and 50 meter run when compared between class VI and VII and between class VII and VIII. In sit up, standing broad jump and 600 meter run subjects of higher classes differ significantly from the lower class. All the subjects from different classes significantly differed in depression
